It's been awhile since I've posted on our family's blog. We've gone through a major life event since the last post- having a precious baby boy, Griffin. Tomorrow, he will be 6 months old. That's 1/2 a year he's been with us already! Just the other day I told Cody that it seems like time goes by a whole heck of a lot faster with having a child than it did before Griffin arrived. So in honor of Griff's 1/2 birthday, here is a list of 6 things I've learned over the past several months:

1) How nasty babies are. Yes, I said it- nasty. Oh, they are all cute and clean in pictures, but they're quite disgusting. The  snot, drool, poo, pee, spit up, etc. It's constant. Just when you think they're good and clean, they upchuck the contents of their bottle... from an hour or two ago. And you just thought it was good and digested! And while we're on the topic of bodily functions, here's #2.

2) How much poo is discussed. I can't tell you how many times Cody and I ask each other, "Did Griffin poo today?" "Was it solid?" "What color was it?" "Oh, it was orange? It must've been the carrots he ate." The color and consistency of poo can tell you a lot about your digestive health, people!

3) How many bibs a teething baby goes through. Griffin soaks a crazy amounof bibs daily! It's too many to keep count. His mouth is like the Niagra Falls of Drool.

4) The Magic of Disney. We all know Disney is magical, but HOT DOG, Mickey is some kinda awesome. He can make a fussy baby cut the crying off in seconds. As soon as Griffin hears or sees Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, he zones in and immediately stops whatever he's doing (including crying). The boy loves him some Mickey Mouse. I definitely see a trip to Disney in our future!

5) How much I did not appreciate sleep before baby. Bedtime was not a big deal before Griffin. I slept like a champ. If I could go back in time and tell my pre-mama self anything, it would be to sleep like a bear as much as possible and to enjoy the days of "sleeping in" because they will one day be nonexistent! Thank The Lord my child has not been too terrible of a sleeper. At this point he usually gets up, at most, once during the night. We're getting there. Sleep is a treasured luxury these days, so please wake me at your own risk. If you wake me, it better be important! And lastly....

1) How much love my heart can hold. I've always heard there's no love quite like a mother's love, and it's true. I've never loved anyone the way I love my son. It's indescribable. My heart just overflows with love for him. Every little smile, laugh, patty cake, and high five he gives me just makes me melt. He is a blessing from God, all babies are. He doesn't know it yet, but he inspires me to be a better person. I pray often for God to help me be the mom that Griffin needs me to be. I pray that one day he looks at Cody and me and is proud to call us his parents.

The past 6 months have been the best because they've been spent with you, Griff! Mom and Dad love you to the moon and back!
